Stahl Sheaffer’s Building Structures Group is experienced in the design of new construction, additions, and renovated spaces serving a broad spectrum of building uses and construction types including a full realm of structural materials. Project sizes range from support of new mechanical equipment or creation of openings for new shafts to multi-million dollar free-standing buildings. In addition to traditional structural consulting for building design, our staff is skilled in structural assessments for buildings, including maintenance planning and development of construction documents for rehabilitation projects. We commonly provide structural analysis and design for building-related elements such as access platforms and fall protection appurtenances, support towers for equipment and piping, underground tunnel and vault design, and anchor design for mechanical systems and equipment. We leverage technology as appropriate through our advanced use of three-dimensional analytical modeling and implementation of 3D laser scanning and detailed use of Revit on every project to create construction document packages from a three-dimensional model.
We pride ourselves on being an integral member of the design team from project inception through the completion of construction, using our depth and breadth of experiences to contribute to the design through innovative thinking and non-standard solutions resulting in economical, coordinated, and constructible project designs and documents. Our building structures group is founded on the principal of timely, concise, and accurate communication with our clients. Most importantly, each member of our group is cognizant that project success hinges on listening to and learning from each member of the team including the architect, building owner, fellow engineers, contractors, fabricators, specialty engineers, and product representatives.
Facility Design & Upgrade Projects
"Stahl Sheaffer may have just set the record for the least amount of bidding questions by any discipline ever on the Rivier Science Center project. That phase of the project is typically a frustrating one as we often consider it an extension of the design phases where last minute items are continuing to be revised. Minimizing the amount of changes that go into the addendum process is always appreciated and that was definitely the case on this particular project."

“Please accept this letter of recommendation for Stahl Sheaffer Engineering, LLC. We have worked with Stahl Sheaffer on a number of projects at Penn State, most recently the very successful 2016-2016 Roof Replacement Program. Pete Brumberg and his group of structural engineers deliver detailed and timely documents. Stahl Sheaffer strives to provide quality work and outstanding service in every aspect of the project. I do not hesitate to recommend them for any engineering project at Penn State, especially the 2016-2017 Roof Replacement Program.”
